Cully, Lavaux and Jazz

Nestling on the shore of Lake Geneva, Cully is surrounded by the Lavaux vineyards, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In spring, the sounds of the Cully Jazz Festival resound in the village and in the wine cellars.

Cully, a winegrowing village on the lakeshore, cultivates wine and gastronomy presented in its cellars, the most famous of which belongs to the winegrowers.

Cully produces two appellations of controlled origin (AOC): Villette AOC and Epesse AOC. These wines come from the Lavaux vineyards, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Programme. Cultivated since the 12th century, this terraced vineyard is the example of a unique interaction between man and Nature. The ships of the CGN navigation company (Compagnie Générale de Navigation) draw alongside Cully and offer a full view of the Lavaux vineyards, while the vineyard trails or the Lavaux Express, a little tourist train on rubber tires, let visitors penetrate into the heart of the land under cultivation.

In March, when winegrowing activities are low, Cully opens its cellars for nine days during the Cully Jazz Festival, one of the most important festivals throughout Switzerland. First-rate musicians and over 40,000 visitors get together for the occasion each year.
