With the support of the OTV (Tourist Board of the Canton of Vaud), Montreux-Vevey Tourism hosted the first International Influence Summit organised by Switzerland Tourism. An event that should increase the visibility of the canton on social media.
This year, Switzerland Tourism launched a new event concept dedicated specifically to influencers. The canton of Vaud, more specifically Montreux Riviera, was selected as host of this event. For two consecutive days, August 26 and 27, 29 influencers from 21 markets met around a programme of conferences, workshops and visits in Montreux, Vevey and the neighbouring regions. From August 28, this meeting was followed by a post-touring programme in six Swiss regions, one of which was Lausanne, on the topic of architecture.
The participating influencers were selected on social media by various markets, based on six favourite areas of interest: cycling, hiking, nature, Alpine luxury and art de vivre, cooking and art de vivre, and architecture. Each one of them was then asked to illustrate Switzerland under one of these aspects.
An opportunity to be seized :
The importance of social influencers to promote tourism is undisputed today. Their contribution complements that of traditional media. Moreover, it allows to highlight a region's more emotional and visual aspects and to reach multiple audiences. The Influencer Summit was therefore a great opportunity for the canton to position itself as a pioneer in this area and to increase its visibility at an international level.
