Lausanne excels in several areas such as education, health, green spaces and recycling.
According to the latest Smart City Index (SCI) produced by IMD Lausanne and the Singapore University of Technology and Design, the capital of Vaud is one of the world’s top five “smart” cities.
Lausanne has entered the ranking to join Zurich (2nd place) and Geneva (8th place) in the top 10, way ahead of metropolises such as New York and Tokyo.
This ranking aims to assess the ability of cities to place technology at the service of their population, as well as people’s perception of how this technology can improve their lives.
The capital of Vaud has excelled in several areas of infrastructure such as school education and continuing education, medical services, green spaces, cultural activities and health and recycling facilities. The health system, technological culture and digital infrastructure (tracking and contact between citizens) have also enabled Swiss locations to come out on top in the smart city ranking.
