Stand-up paddle boarding is the next best thing

Jul 6, 2021

Paddling standing up or sitting on a board is the new, original way of exploring the region’s many lakes.

The fashionable water sport from Hawaii is done on a large very stable board, like a surf board, using a paddle.

This new way of getting in tune with nature makes you feel like you’re walking on water and has become incredibly popular in recent years, most probably also because it doesn’t require a lot of technical skill to have a go.

You just need a sense of balance. With Lake Geneva, Lake Neuchâtel and Lake Joux as well as mountain lakes like Lake Retaud, opposite Glacier3000, and in Les Diablerets, the region isn’t short of places to enjoy this activity.

The equipment required for these unique cruises is easy to hire, and some service providers even offer the chance to combine this activity with yoga, another discipline that’s also very much in vogue at the moment.

From next year, you should also be able to have a go at it at the brand new Frience aquatic park, in Gryon, in the Vaud Alps. From the end of this summer, there should already be lots of options for enjoying the water at this 3,000 m2 water park. region-du-leman.ch
