Vaudois cuisine: a whole world of delicious food

Foodies and gourmets agree: the Lake Geneva Region is truly a Land of Plenty where lovers of fine food can treat themselves to delicious culinary specialities in typical brasseries as well as celebrated gourmet restaurants.

-Whether you’re looking for gourmet food or a traditional restaurant, the important thing is pleasing the palate! This could be the motto for food-lovers in the Lake Geneva Region where they can delight in local specialities as well as special dishes prepared by award-winning chefs.

With its multitude of restaurants featured in the Gault Millau and Michelin guides, the Lake Geneva Region is Switzerland’s haute cuisine capital; one example being the Restaurant de l’Hôtel de Ville in Crissier (Lausanne), one of the country’s finest establishments (awarded 19 Gault Millau points, and 3 Michelin stars).

Offering equally fine cuisine are the Vaudois “pintes” (a local word for a typical local restaurant) which make the best dishes with local products: saucisson vaudois, potatoes and leek casserole, sausage with cabbage, baked Vacherin Mont-d’Or AOP, lake-caught fish and so on. Not forgetting the traditional fondue and other cheese dishes, which visitors can enjoy while admiring the mountains in an alpine meadow chalet or a mountain-top restaurant.
