The winter in the canton of Vaud is of unrivalled variety! Skiing, sledding, skating, relaxing: why choose? There are activities for all tastes concentrated on the same territory, ensuring memorable days in the authentic resorts of the Vaudois Alps or in the preserved landscapes of the Jura.
In the Vaudois Alps, skiers of all levels are spoilt for choice: the sunny slopes of Leysin or the vast skiing area of Villars/Les Diablerets? Difficult to decide, because the two regions have developed a wide range of unique and fun activities, for example the sled run in Diablerets, the innovations of Glacier 3000 and the Tobogganing Park and the Kuklos revolving restaurant in Leysin. We will have a look at them later. For the time being, let’s explore Château-d'Oex, the capital of the hot-air balloon and organizer of the International Hot-Air Balloon Festival. Its relief is perfect for snowshoe outings. But the Vaudois Jura also attracts snowshoeing fans! Its Nordic atmosphere is a paradise for soft winter sports such as cross-country skiing. This is also where the most romantic gem of the Vaudois winter can be found: Lake Joux. Once frozen over, it transforms into Europe’s largest natural ice rink.
Impossible to decide! The best idea is to experience it all and spend a varied and unforgettable winter in the canton of Vaud!
