La Côte: a Mini-Switzerland

La Côte is a region of vineyards, mountains, countryside and attractive towns on the shores of Lake Geneva. Switzerland's topography is concentrated between Lausanne and Geneva in this holiday region that makes the most of its history, terrain and culture.

La Côte is a diverse area, known primarily for the Lake Geneva Region's largest vineyard. Ripened opposite Lake Geneva, its grapes make excellent red and white wines. The premier variety is Chasselas, a white wine served in every vintner's cellar.

Morges and Nyon are towns with a lakeside ambience, nestled amid vines. Morges, opposite Mont Blanc, is guarded by its mediaeval castle while Nyon, a Roman town, preserves its heritage but also hosts many vibrant festivals including the famous "Paléo".

Away from the towns, visitors can discover legendary castles and towns as well as fertile countryside. Hikers can traverse the vast natural expanses of the Vaud Jura Park, as far as the Jura mountains. The mountain resort of Saint-Cergue is a haven of peace that offers activities in winter (skiing, snowshoeing, etc.) and summer (walking and cycling).
