At one hour from Montreux, Château-d'Oex is a mountain village and recognised ski resort. Thanks to its climate, it is called the capital of the hot-air balloon, where the increasingly successful International Hot-Air Balloon Festival takes place each year.
Set in the heart of Pays-d’Enhaut in the Vaudois Alps, Château-d’Oex is the ideal winter destination for visitors wishing to enjoy the Alpine landscapes, taste local products, discover the regional crafts and, of course, ski with the family!
The ski area is adapted to all levels. The famous Videmanette slope, which departs from the neighbouring village of Rougemont, is linked to the resort of Gstaad. Families like to spend their winter holidays in Switzerland because children up to 9 years ski for free here!
Château-d’Oex, the capital of hot-air ballooning, hosts the International Hot-Air Balloon Festival each year. For more than a week, nearly 80 hot-air balloons from all over the world take off above the resort. Those who want to learn more about hot-air balloons, can do so all year round at the Espace Balloon Museum. A stone's throw away, the Vieux Pays-d’Enhaut Museum exhibits another feature of the region: the art of paper cutouts.
