Morges - Nature
MORGES, PARC DE L'INDEPENDANCE - Every spring, Morges hosts the Tulip Festival in the "Parc de l'Indépendance" on the shore of Lake Geneva. An eagerly awaited date in an exceptional site opposite the Alps.
In 2021, the Tulip Festival (free entrance) will last seven weeks and present 145,000 tulips of around 275 varieties in the "Parc de l'Indépendance" in Morges. The diversity of these flower beds, embellished with daffodils, muscaris and other spring bulbs, remind fans of the tulip’s huge range of shapes and colours.
The 2021 edition will be a 50th bis since most of the events planned for 2020 will take place in 2021. There will be a Sound & Light show, a walk in the tulips, a large canteen and of course the famous bulb sale.
The first varieties bloom in April and attract a family audience, among others, which inaugurates the first lakefront outing of the year.. Small weekend animations are regularly organised in the Parc de l'Indépendance. Catering and drinks are available on site.
As the Tulip Festival was created on the occasion of the 50 years of the Lake Geneva Horticultural Society in 1971, the horticulture apprentices of the Morges Centre for Professional Studies create several beds of flowers every year.
The "Parc de l’Indépendance" is a magnificent site with several monuments and remarkable trees at the mouth of river Morges, which recall the celebration in 1898, the date of the independence of the Lake Geneva Region.
