Montreux - Exposition
Or when art invites itself to the lakeside! Every two years, some thirty Swiss and international artists take part in the exercise: designing an original sculpture measuring more than 2.5 metres and capable of withstanding the vagaries of the weather. A constraint that allows the works to be exhibited outdoors for three months along the Montreux waterfront, to the delight of walkers and aesthetes.
The Biennale carried out its first edition in 2008. Its constant progression has attracted artists from all over the world.
The privileged location of the Montreux Biennale allows artists to present their works in a unique context with Lake Geneva and the mountains in the background.
The selected works must meet artistic and technical criteria. Exposed during 3 months in the open air, they must therefore be made of materials supporting the sun, rain and wind.
Enjoying a very strong passage, the quays of Montreux are an extremely popular place to walk and tourists, art lovers and collectors take full advantage of this exceptional artistic presentation.
