Built in 1909 for Joseph Dupont-Dupont (1872-1922), a civil engineering contractor involved in the construction of the Simplon tunnel, this imposing villa stands out in the landscape of the Avenue de la Gare due to its size as well as its stone facades and stained-glass windows characteristic of Art Nouveau.
This art, which seeks to emancipate itself from the neoclassical period and its rigid codes by integrating new materials such as steel or glass with older ones such as wood or stone, had a flourishing period between 1895 and 1910 before giving way to Art Deco with its more geometric forms. The villa lived through a good part of the 20th century by converting its premises into different flats, before undergoing a renovation in the early 2000s that brought it back to life.
