The one and only institution that is entirely dedicated to design in western Switzerland, the mudac owns a collection of design objects, contemporary glass art, contemporary art jewellery, graphic art and ceramics to be discovered, absolutely!
The mudac - Cantonal Museum of Contemporary Design and Applied Arts - is located in the heart of the Plateforme 10 arts quarter, in a new exhibition space that also houses the Photo Elysée Museum. The building will open to the public on June 18, 2022.
The mudac is interested in modern art in all its forms and loves building bridges between styles. This is why the temporary exhibitions - that always go where we least expect them - showcase successively jewellery, graphic arts, ceramics, design objects, and media and photography. Among others, the museum presents the largest collection of contemporary glass art in Switzerland and Europe.
Challenging accepted notions and casting a fresh eye on art is one of the mudac’s philosophies!
Since its creation, the museum has been emphasising transdisciplinarity and the dynamics of exchanges with other disciplines. It regularly organises activities for children.
