Parc Indépendance

Parc de l'Indépendance

Near the castle and, most of all, Lake Geneva, the Parc de l’Indépendance in Morges is the perfect place for a peaceful stroll. In the spring, it is adorned with over 100,000 flowers for the Tulip Festival, a unique event in Switzerland.

Views of Lake Geneva, the Alps and Mont-Blanc create an enchanting backdrop for one of the most famous parks in the Lake Geneva Region. The Parc de l’Indépendance is an oasis in the centre of Morges, an ideal natural environment for family walks, with more than 50 species of trees, including horse chestnuts trees planted in 1750. In the spring, the Parc de l’Indépendance plays host to one of the most famous floral displays of the region during the Tulip Festival. This tranquil park is then brought to life with the colour of over 100,000 flowers and special events and entertainment.

More than a park in bloom, the Parc de l’Indépendance commemorates an important event in the region’s history. On 24 January 1898, locals celebrated the 100 year anniversary of their independence wrested from the Bernese and this is when the famous Morges gardens took the name of Parc de l’Indépendance.
