At Villars-Gryon, in the Vaudois Alps, there are nearly 50 km of cross-country skiing trails split into four sections. Whether you prefer classic or skate skiing, there’s a wide variety of trails where you can enjoy the snow-covered landscape and get close to nature.
Blessed with a natural south-facing location, Villars-Gryon offers lots of sunshine and fabulous views. This privileged setting was a natural place for cross-country skiing to develop, with now almost 50 km of trails.
The original winter sport, cross-country skiing has benefited from renewed interest in recent years due to the fact that it’s so accessible, natural and peaceful.
Criss-crossing the Villars-Gryon region, cross-country ski trails set off from the road at Col de la Croix, Golf de Villars, Les Frasses, Les Chaux or Cergnement. Skate style skiing is possible on almost all the routes apart from certain road sections. Skiers of all abilities will find something to suit them, from physically demanding routes to relaxed trails with a stop-off in a refuge or mountain restaurant.
The many local sports shops have equipment for rental, while specialised instructors offer lessons to beginners.
