Along with Marmottes Paradis, La Rambertia is one of the nature attractions found at Les Rochers-de-Naye, less than an hour by train from Montreux. With breathtaking views, it is a spectacular location for the mountain plants of La Rambertia alpine gardens.
La Rambertia botanical gardens are situated between two rocky outcrops at the top of Les Rochers-de-Naye (2,045 m) on a steep slope of 400 m2 overlooking the valley.
La Rambertia protects and cultivates almost 1,000 alpine species including two sorts of edelweiss and 600 local varieties.
Growing plants at such a high altitude is a constant challenge. If snow allows, La Rambertia gardens are open from June to mid-October and are easy to get to on the Montreux to Rochers-de-Naye train with its spectacular views.
Founded in 1896, La Rambertia is a tribute to Eugène Rambert (1830-1886), historian, teacher, story-teller and poet, who wrote “Les Alpes suisses”, published in 5 volumes, comprising scientific observations but also historical stories, musings and poetry.
