The exhibition shows how Canadian painters discovered Impressionism in the late 19th century.

Organized in collaboration with the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa, the exhibition shows how Canadian painters discovered Impressionism at the end of the 19th century in France, and how they react, through their style and subjects, to this pictorial revolution. Nourished by this international movement, many of these artists give, once back home, a crucial impetus to the emergence of modern Canadian painting.
