La Bavaria

La Bavaria

Located at the top of rue du Petit-Chêne, La Bavaria (13 GaultMillau points) is one of Lausanne’s legendary restaurants. Its team has successfully restored the setting without altering it too much. It has also modernised the menu card while maintaining its reputed brasserie-type dishes such as sauerkraut.

The Munich-style brasserie has been part of the Lausanne landscape since 1881. La Bavaria has been included in the reputed GaultMillau guide (13 points) thanks to the work of two young Chefs that have received their training from the region’s greatest chefs.

One of the à la carte dishes, sauerkraut, has maintained its reputation as the restaurant’s signature dish. The talented young Chefs also confer a gastronomic touch to their brasserie dishes. The skilfully restored setting has kept its “Belle-Epoque” charm but now also offers a pleasant terrace that is highly appreciated during the summer.

This establishment has been awarded the “ Café historique de Lausanne ” label established by the city of Lausanne in 2021. The most beautiful Belle Epoque brasserie in Lausanne. The historical views show that all the elements of its décor are still present today. This brasserie embodies a city that is opening to cosmopolitanism at the end of the 19th century. Recently renovated, la Bavaria has been awarded the ICOMOS title of “Historical Restaurant” for the year 2021.
