Figure skating, ice hockey or curling: from mid-October, Château-d’Oex’s open-air ice rink offers frozen thrills and pleasures, surrounded by the breath-taking prospect of the surrounding mountains.
A terrific alternative to skiing, Château-d’Oex’s open-air ice rink, magnificently situated amidst the grandeur of its surrounding mountains, is open to you all winter. Beyond the simple pleasure of just sliding over the ice, there’s a range of activities to choose from. For those who like team sports, a third of the rink is reserved every day for ice hockey. Figure skaters can take advantage of group lessons to improve their technique. Curling has been practiced for almost a century in the Pays d’Enhaut. On request, the local curling club organises introductory sessions, allowing you to try your hand at this particularly subtle game, invented in Scotland in the sixteenth century and long the preserve of the gentry.
Open from the 15th October 2016 until the 5th March 2017.
On Sundays, a part of the ice is used by the Curling club from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm.
Hockey tournament on the 10th December 2016 and the 21st January 2017. Opening of the Ice rink from 12:30 pm on these days.
