The Rougemont Tourist Office opens a window on our planet’s distant origins. The exibition, museum first, has a prestigious collection contains over 2,000 minerals and fossils, some of which date back nearly 550 million years.
Located in the cellars of the Rougemont Town Hall, a significant collection of over 2,000 minerals and fossils offers a fascinating spectacle to specialists and the uninitiated alike.
Whether it is for the brilliance of their colours or their bizarre forms, the exhibits will certainly surprise you. Some indeed are more than 550 million years old.
First inaugurated in 1973, the museum’s collection was founded on a private bequest from the Cottier family to the Commune — made in recognition of the Commune’s hospitality to dozens of refugee children during the Second World War.
On another note, the Rougemont Tourist Office organizes occasional guided tours of the village.
