A lovely climb through forests and meadows to the Restaurant des Fers, affording stunning views of the surrounding peaks, the best known including Le Mont d’Or, Pic Chaussy and the whole Les Diablerets mountain range.
The trail starts either from the ski lift car park or below the Hôtel Fabiola. Get your snowshoes on and head along the path that climbs through the forest to the ski slope. Take care on this short section which is shared with skiers. When you get to an intersection, you return to a route dedicated to nature lovers and snowshoers. This will take you past three magnificent authentic chalets revealing the ancient typical roof structure of wooden slats called of “tavillons”.
One last effort along the road that climbs steadily and gently to the fantastic Restaurant des Fers, the final goal of the trail, with a stunning vista coming into view as you approach. Take a well-deserved break to admire the superb views of the surrounding Vaud Alps while savouring a local speciality. Return by the same route but this time enjoy the views of Leysin and its legendary Tours d’Aï and Mayen with the Dents-du-Midi in the background.
