Be it in the cities or the countryside, in the vineyards or on the mountain pastures, the autumn festivals all celebrate the Vaudois art of living! Under the last rays of the Indian summer sun, wine, cheeses and even truffles delight our palate.
After dancing and singing all summer long in the four corners of the canton of Vaud, we are delighted to enjoy autumn and our regional specialties with family or friends. The swimsuits come less and less to the fore and the barbecues are preparing to be wrapped up for the winter. Now it’s time again for our traditional dishes!
Mountain cheeses such as Vacherin Mont-d'Or PDO and L’Etivaz PDO are the stars, which are accompanied - naturally - by newly harvested and prepared Chasselas wine. Harvesting is always a moment of joy in the six Vaudois wine-growing regions! The region of the Côtes de l’Orbe AOC vineyards features a unique event at this time of the year: a semi-marathon that’s simply meant to be fun.
Fairs and coming down from the mountain pastures events perpetuate beloved customs and traditional products that people enjoy with much gusto. Not to mention the Bonvillars truffle market, which is now part of the must-attend events, even though some people are still amazed that this precious delicacy can be found in the northern part of the canton of Vaud.
