The art of pruning
During the vegetative resting phase of the vine (from November to February), the winter pruning eliminates 80% of the vines (twigs) and promotes the circulation of the sap in the remaining wood. In summer, pruning (disbudding) eliminates unwanted shoots, as well as leaves that shade fruits (deleafing). This long work aims to regulate production in quality and quantity. A good pruning is the first secret to get the tasty fruits that will make wines of excellence. You will see vines cut in different ways: the pruning in "Guyot simple" (a long vine shoot becomes the main branch) and the pruning in "Cordon de Royat" (vine shoots cut short). We choose one or the other according to the fruit bearing capacity of each grape variety.

Your vines with a view
Becoming owner of a vine Chasselas, your vine will carry a sign in your name and will be taken care of by our team for 10 years, and each year you will receive a bottle of Grand'Rue of the new vintage, labeled in your name (Click on the link at the end of the page to register).
Here, the vines have the beautiful view! And the workers as well...
You are in front of a small vineyard house with Morgian colors. In the country of Vaud, we call them capites. Before the 90's, the cellars of the City of Morges were not located here, but in the city centre. Winemakers could use it as a shelter and leave their tools. Today, we take advantage of this beautiful place especially for convivial aperitifs to which at times the majestic Mont-Blanc invites itself.

Servagnin, Morgian Pinot Noir
In 1420, Marie de Bourgogne, wife of the Duke Amédée de Savoie stayed in St-Prex. Offering the residents a few feet of this Servagnin she loves so much and that is how the Pinot Noir arrives in Vaud soil. Almost completely dissapeared from our vineyards in 1970, its rescue is held by only one vine!
Today, more than 15 wine-growers cultivate it under the name Servagnin. The right to the appellation (only between Morges and St-Prex) is the result of a strict tasting and control of production standards.
Many times rewarded, our Servagnin, raised in barrels, is a wine of a great elegance, racy, complex and structured. It has a ruby color and offers aromas of berries and sweet spices. It goes well with meat and delicacies.

Chasselas, King of grape varieties
Originally from Lake Geneva, it represents around 60% of the Vaud vineyards. Its finesse and elegance allow it to reveal its terroir. To vinify Chasselas is not an easy task, because of its fine character, it reflects the slightest error and has no room for mistakes. The winemaker has no choice but to be rigorous.
Planted on 7 hectares of our estate, 4 vintages are dedicated to him including the essential « La Grand’Rue », vintage raised on lees, World Champion of Chasselas in 2015. But also Le Morgien, Chasselas of gastronomy from our oldest plots, vinified in wine amphora. And in the ""Sélection Nature"" range: Plot 900, a Chasselas vinified without sulfur. "

Soil work in biodynamics
Biodynamics focuses on the interactions between soils, water, plants, animals, but also on the stars such as the moon. The goal is to promote a natural environment conducive to biodiversity, while leading to the culture of the vine: by freeing ourselves from synthetic products, we respect our land and our vineyards.
Here, the weeding is carried out mechanically, only at the feet of the vines in order to limit the competition between the grass and the vine. In some rows, you can observe various plants associated with the vine. These are called ""green manures"". These sunflowers, large radishes and other legumes can both structure the soil through their roots and maintain its fertility. Some absorb nitrates, others provide nutrients. In addition to hosting many bees and butterflies, they participate in the multiplication of many soil micro-organisms, and therefore to biodiversity.
Thanks to this work, our wines find the characteristic aromas of their terroirs.

The care of the vineyard in biodynamics
In the absence of chemical treatments, we have few solutions to keep the vine healthy, but many plants contain active extracts that benefits the natural defenses of the vine.
The key to success is to choose, depending on the climate, the right combination of:
- The use of small quantities of Bordeaux mixture and sulfur to fight against powdery mildew and mildew
- The spraying of herbal teas such as wicker, field horsetail, nettle and biodynamic silica preparation
- The control of the vine vigor by disbudding or aeration of the grapes by deleafing
This is a work of observation and close protection that the winemaker performs on a daily basis.
