The hamlets of La Comballaz and Les Voëttes nestle between the Mont-d’Or and Pic Chaussy mountains halfway between Les Mosses and Le Sépey. They are welcomingly protected from the cold wind and offer an amazing view over the Diablerets massif. In the opposite direction they look towards La Forclaz village.
The Voëttes plateau and the slopes that dominate the Raverette River have a distinct character. The carefully tended prairies are dotted with timber farmhouses, some of which date back to the middle of the 17th Century. Local carpenters, hugely active in the years that followed, continued traditional building right up until 1900 and beyond.
This area, barely touched by tourist construction in the 20th Century, owes its wonderful harmony to the secular work of the farming community. Later generations of agriculturists would continue these traditions, integrating their functional barn-stables as best they could.
Here the tourist walking trails are just waiting to be explored ! Trek them slowly so that you can take in all that this beautiful countryside has to offer in its naturally terraced mountain setting.
